Puss-In-Boots (Big Shoes Theatre Company)

By | Published on Sunday 18 August 2013

This all-female theatre troupe take on a modern rendition of the old French tale. Rewritten by Angela Carter, the feminist interpretation explores the idea of a woman as a “prize possession”. The performances of some of the young actresses seem beyond their time, raising laughter from the audience with confidence and ease. However, the ability of the group is definitely mixed as some characters come across more uncomfortably than others. With a rising boldness from the cast during a musical number, the play proves to have future potential with the ‘Big Shoes Theatre Company’, especially Demetra Papa-Adams playing the hag, a name to look out for at the Fringes of the future.

theSpace on North Bridge, until 9 Aug (not 8) 2.05pm.
