The Violinist (KinkyFish)

By | Published on Monday 12 August 2013

It’s a classic scenario: the tale of a daughter, this one a prodigy, and her father, whose troubled past comes back to haunt him. And when I say classic, what I mean is it has been done so many times – in both film and theatre – that coming up with something fresh is extremely difficult, and this is something the members of KinkyFish seemingly chose to ignore. Created in conjunction with another play, ‘Consequences’, ‘The Violinist’ regrettably fails to muster that small yet vital spark necessary to the success of a production. This saddens me, as I saw clear potential in every single actor, and they would undoubtedly do much, much better under different circumstances.
