This Was Your Life (Quite Nice Theatre)
By Holly Sharp | Published on Saturday 17 August 2013
Quite Nice Theatre’s ‘Snakes: The Musical’ looks set to become the cult classic of this year’s Fringe. It’s frustrating the same can’t be said for their other offering, ‘This Was Your Life’. It’s a competent, enjoyable hour, but marred by comparison with their other show, where laughter reduces you to a quivering, teary mess. They are without doubt a company to watch: intelligent, energetic, and never once tipping into self-indulgence. This game show, where the audience choose the deceased contestant’s path to heaven or hell, doesn’t quite demonstrate the company’s full talent, but raises a frequent giggle and an occasional guffaw. Not their best work, but still a hilarious, exciting company with heaps to offer.
Just the Tonic at The Caves, until 25 Aug (not 13), 9.00pm.
