Man Ray Portraits (National Galleries Of Scotland)

By | Published on Thursday 29 August 2013

Given Man Ray’s status as one of the most important artists of the early 20th century this is an unbelievably exciting exhibition to have in Edinburgh. A retrospective of Man Ray’s photographic portraits, this shows not only his work, but also some personal photos, providing the viewer with a look into the lives of the subjects, whether it be friends or lovers. Henri Matisse, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst and Pablo Picasso all appear in some incredible shots, their personalities captured in the artist’s wholly unique style. Beautifully shot and providing a window into Ray’s soul, these photos are worth studying in every exquisite detail.

Scottish National Portrait Gallery, until 22 Sep, 10.00am.
