A Patchwork Of Leith Memories – Photos And Stories Of Leith, Edinburgh (Living Memory Association)

By | Published on Wednesday 21 August 2013

The Living Memory Association is an incredibly sweet and heart-warming reminiscence project which has been around since 1985. This little interactive gallery houses charming clutter: old trinkets, toys and documents, around which information boards and photos are dotted. The latter are delightful and informative, though the former prove to be a little dry, ranging from diagrams of the funnels of Leith Shipowners to lists of hospitals and cinemas which no longer exist. The place itself has the air of a vintage junk shop crossed with a doting grandparent’s front room – full of treasures to be discovered and the occasional older person, who more often than not is happy to chat at length about how Leith has changed.

Living Memory Association, until 24 Aug (not 11, 18), 10.00am.
