ThreeWeeks Quick Quiz: Clara 2.0
Brighton 08 index - Preview - Interviews - eDaily + Reviews - About the Brighton Festival

Brighton Fringe people answer the ThreeWeeks Q&A quick quiz. Today, erm, well, Clara 2.0, the theremin playing robot doll from 'The Sputnik II Memorial Session'. No, really.

1. Tell us about your show in no more than 30 words.
With theremin, vocals, guitar and waterphonics, this evening is packed with Space Age chic and surprising takes on well-known songs. Includes a performance by Clara 2.0, the theremin-playing robot doll.

2. What's your role in it?
I'll be moving my robotic, dolly arm to play the theremin live - my solos include 'Get Carter' and 'Are Friends Electric?'

3. Why are you bringing the show to the Brighton Fringe this year?
We're all Brighton musicians, we play around the country (just come back from a gig in Oxford) but there's nothing more fun than playing at a venue on your doorstep.

4. What are you most looking forward to about appearing in the Fringe?
It's a chance to perform songs that people love while packing the show with surprises, keeping the audience on their toes by giving every popular number a Space Age twist. We also see this as an opportunity to commemorate the death of space dog Laika, the first living creature in orbit.

5. What are you least looking forward to?
There's always a risk that one of my arms will fall off. And I'm not looking forward to having my batteries removed at the end of the night.

The Sputnik II Memorial Session, Spacedog UK, Cella @ Sanctuary Cafe, 14 May, 8:00pm, £6.00 (£5.00), Fringe pp 39
