Since we created ThreeWeeks in 1996, our passion for discovering and championing new and exciting talent performing at the Edinburgh Festival has been matched by our mission to discover and champion future media talent too.

The ThreeWeeks founders were active members of the Edinburgh University student media and theatre communities when they set up the magazine in 1996. After graduating, they set-up the ThreeWeeks MediaSkills Programme, offering on-the-ground training and experience for each new generation of aspiring journalists, involving students and recent graduates initially from Edinburgh, and subsequently from the whole UK and beyond.

The media-skills programme combined formal training with practical experience, with participants forming the ThreeWeeks review team and enjoying unique access to the Edinburgh Festival, while receiving ongoing feedback and advice from the magazine’s experienced team of professional editors. Hundreds of young people benefited from the programme over the years.

The original ThreeWeeks MediaSkills programme ran from 1996 to 2013. We are now redeveloping the initiative and hope to launch an all-new educatin programme ahead of Edinburgh Festival 2016. Look out for more information about this programme here online next year.

JOIN THE TEAM AT FESTIVAL 2015!
ThreeWeeks will send out a smaller review team at the Festival this year mainly made up of alumni from past editions of our media-skills programme.

But young writers with existing reviewing experience are also invited to apply to join this team by sending a CV and examples of their work to recruitment@unlimitedmedia.co.uk. These are principally voluntary roles, but reviewers who commit to see over 25 shows will receive £120 to help cover their expenses.
